Advising and Faculty
Waynflete Middle School students learn and grow under the guidance of knowledgeable, caring adults they trust—and trust is the foundation of all learning.
Waynflete’s extraordinary Middle School teaching team is filled with passionate educators who genuinely enjoy spending time with early adolescents. Our advising program pairs students with a different faculty advisor each year so they can form many close attachments within our community. Students start and end most days in their close-knit homeroom, the heart of our academic day, setting goals, sharing challenges, and reflecting on their progress with a teacher who truly knows them.
LEAP Week
Students spend the first full week of the academic year getting to know their advisor and their classmates through a wide range of activities and field trips encouraging learning, exploration, appreciation, and play. By building community right from the beginning, we ensure a warm welcome to Waynflete.
Advising Themes
The student and advisor relationship is nurtured within a greater whole. Sixth graders focus on community, seventh graders on expanding academic and social supports, and eighth graders on self-discovery. Throughout their Middle School journey, students always feel appreciated, supported, and truly known.
Homeroom
Homeroom is a Middle School student’s home base. Every day begins with a check-in with their advisor to map out the day ahead and most days close with time in homeroom to reflect and share questions, ideas, funny stories, and accomplishments with other members of their homeroom crew.
